Email Inbox Out of Control
By Alan | May 22, 2008
10,356 email in my inbox. Can you believe that? What a freaking mess. I’m sick of it and this memorial weekend I plan on taking back my inbox.
Here is how I plan to take back my inbox.
I basically plan in following ProBloggers plan of attack which he detailed in his post: From 10000 to 0 Emails in an Inbox in 24 Hours.
But two areas I want to focus on:
- I already forward most of my other email accounts to Gmail but it’s a free-for-all. I’m going to get much better organization by adding more labels.
- Email list atom bomb. I’m going to nuke over 90% of the email lists I subscribe to. Especially those in the Internet marketing niche. Way too much junk and I usually don’t even read most of the emails from those clowns all promoting the same junk. If I have more then five of their emails/pitches unread I’m un-subscribing. I always felt it was a good idea to join all these list to check out how they market and to keep updated with the industry. But not needed. You’re in one gurus list and you’re in all the other ones anyway since they promote the same stuff.
Stay tuned. My next email should see my inbox going from 10,356 to zero! ![]()

Hey Alan,
I’m going to do the same thing and unsubscribe from a bunch of lists. All many of the “guru” want is my money. I’ll stay on a few list of people that I think actually care about the people on their list, like you do.
