Entering the Learn Spanish Niche
By Alan | May 29, 2007
Today I finished my new affiliate marketing website. As I was planning this post, I debated how much to divulge about the niches I’m researching or setting up websites to market in that niche. I do need hold my cards close to my chest because if I’ve found a non-crowded niche that is preforming well for me, I don’t want to broadcast it to the world. I’m all about sharing information on the how to part (tools and strategy I use to find niches) but I’ve done all the work to uncover and setup a website for a non-competitive niche that is generating results for me (as in moola), then I need to be a little selfish and keep that niche for myself.
My newest site though is an over-crowded and very competitive niche, the “learn Spanish” language niche. I tend to steer clear of super competitive niches but this one is special to me. I’m from Costa Rica so Spanish is my native language. I’ve been doing a podcast on other subject but I include a Spanish lesson which is just a Spanish word or phrase that I teach the meaning and pronunciation for during my podcast and it’s been a popular segment so I started looking at this niche and I wasn’t impressed with the current crop of sites out there. I decided as a native Spanish speaker that I could do better.
I did a keyword analysis and as I expected it’s a hot but very competitive market but there are still a lot of long tail type keywords I can zero in. So I started researching all the Learn Spanish software programs and online courses I could fine. I came up with five Spanish learning courses that I really liked and I felt confident that if Spanish language students would give it a try they could learn Spanish. Next was to check if these Spanish learning websites offered an affiliate program I could join and to my delight they did! So I decided to throw my hat in this crowded ring.
As I mentioned earlier in this post, I shy away from competitive keyword niches so this will be my first foray into a crowded field like this one. I’ll keep you posted on how well or bad I do!
I’m planning my PPC campaign and I’ve optimized my website but organic traffic might be tough to come by because of the very competitive keywords involved making it hard to rank well.
I settled on Best Spanish Learning Courses for the domain name. I do try to limit my domains to a max of three words but since ranking in these popular keywords will be difficult I went with a more descriptive four words so that a person searching on Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. would be able to know what this website is all about just by reading the domain name. We’re supposed to create websites for people not search engines right!
Please check out my learning Spanish course review website and let me know what you think.
It’s a straight up review website promoting six affiliate programs. My top five learning Spanish courses plus a learning Spanish abroad school. Nothing too fancy since I want to make it easy and present the reviews easily to my visitors.
I added audio in which I greet the visitors in Spanish and English. This where I think I can stand above the rest of affiliate marketers in this niche is that I speak the language and I care about the language. I want people to learn to speak Spanish. If I didn’t have a passion for Spanish I would have never entered this crowded market.
Stay tuned for the latest.
