I don’t only use WordPress to power this blog you’re reading. It’s also my first choice when I’m setup a new website in a niche. The main reasons include:
- Google Loves WordPress
- Using Cpanel it’s super easy to setup
- Many cool free themes to use
- That’s the just my top three-many more benefits for using WordPress!
I’ve now been learning how to make my niche sites look like a “regular” website instead of well-like a blog (like this one) so my niche sites are looking much better. One important factor is to make sure you remove dates from the posts.
As you can see from this post, the date I wrote it is on the post. For a blog like this-that’s perfect. You want to leave dates but not for your niche sites.
You see the whole purpose of niche marketing is to setup a site but once it’s up and running you don’t have to tweak it much. But if a date is attached to the post the site will soon look outdated which will hurt sales.
The good news is that it’s very easy to remove the dates from your WordPress niche sites. All you need to do is remove this code from your site:
< ?php the_time(‘F j, Y’); ? >
From your theme editor in your WP dashboard look for that code in your single.php and index.php. Than just delete it. And you now will have the dates gone.
I posted the above as an answer to a post and was then directed to a post from Teli Adlam that she posted on the Warrior forum. She went into more detail in this post.
If you want learn more about niche marketing, I suggest Andrew Hansen’s Niche Marketing on Crack. The best e-book on the market about setting up WordPress powered niche websites. That’s the e-book I read and follow for my niche marketing sites.

Hey Alan thanks for the great tip I was always wanting to know this! Just a question thought…do you know if this will work if i use the timestamp option in wordpress? I quite often set up all my post weeks in advance so they post automatically in the future.
Hi Alex, the time stamp option should still work just that once the post actually is published the date will not show.
It’s very true that for a niche website you can’t have the dates. I’m glad someone wrote about this:)
I figured out how to remove the dates from my WP blog, but it seems that it needs a space between the “Filed under” link and my content.
My content seems to wrap around the headline. I’m hoping the expert has an idea! I don’t know much php, so I can’t figure out how to add a break!
Any ideas would be much appreciated!
Thanks so much for this. There’s a plugin available, but it wasn’t working on my site.
This is much better – and easier to understand!
Hi Nancy, I’m glad you found this post helpful! I also tried the date exclusion plugin but I couldn’t get to work either. I tried on two different blogs with different themes. Maybe it’s a version issue or something but luckily it’s super easy doing it manually.
Thank you so much! I am trying (and loving) Dosh Dosh’s Prosense but didn’t have a clue on how to remove the dates. This worked wonderfully. I really appreciate the help!
Thanks for tips
