If you’ve registered domains make sure not to ignore emails from GoDaddy regarding verifying your contact information. I did then I received a follow up e-mail so I finally took action to ensure my domain name registration isn’t canceled.
This the email I received from GoDaddy:
Dear Alan,
Several months ago you received notice to update the contact information for your domain name(s). According to our records, you have not completed that update. It’s important that you do so immediately.
Under ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) rules and the terms of your registration agreement, PROVIDING FALSE CONTACT INFORMATION CAN BE GROUNDS FOR DOMAIN NAME CANCELLATION (to review the ICANN policy, visit: http://www.icann.org/whois/wdrp-registrant-faq.htm).
ICANN annually requires that all accredited registrars (like Go Daddy) ask their domain administrators/registrants to review domain name contact data, and make any changes necessary to ensure accuracy. To review/update your contact data, simply:
+ Go to http://www.godaddy.com?snipped
NOTE: If the link does not work, copy and paste the URL into your browser.
+ Click on the “ICANN Domain Confirmation” icon at the top of the page
+ You will be taken to a landing page and asked to enter your Domain Information Key:
XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
+ Enter your key and click “Go.” Next, simply review the contact information for each domain name. To make a correction, log in to “My Account” with your customer number or log in name and password. Click “Manage Domains,” select the domain to update, then click “Contact.” If you find that your domain contact data is accurate, there’s no need to take action. If, however, your domain contact information is inaccurate, you must correct it.
Should you have any questions, please email us at support@godaddy.com or call our customer support line at (480) 505-8877.
Thanks for your attention and thank you for being a GoDaddy.com, Inc. customer.
Sincerely,
GoDaddy.com, Inc. Domain SupportIf you are the domain administrator of more than one GoDaddy.com domain account, you may receive this notice multiple times.

So make sure you keep an eye out for that email! A lot folks don’t realize that ICANN rules require you have real contact information in your domain WHOIS. You can’t have made up stuff in there. If you do you leave yourself wide open to having your domain registration canceled and you could lose your domain!
To keep your contact information private, I just rent a P.O. Box from the USPS. It costs about $60 for the year (at least where I live).
