  1. Brilliant, Alan!

What a great idea to put your passion and Pinterest together to maximize traffic and revenue. I like that you sent them to your webpage, where they can buy books through your Amazon link plus they can browse around your site and opt-in.

    Smart marketing.

    Thanks,

  2. What a clever idea, Alan! Thanks for sharing in such detail what you do. I’m interested to see what type of results you get with this.

I’m new to Pinterest too and am trying to find a happy medium between personal and promotional pins. I will certainly give this approach a try.

  3. Thanks Peggy! It does make the process easier when it’s a subject you like. Especially with these social media type sites.

  4. I’m also curious how it turns out, stats-wise. :-)

It is a delicate balance between pinning for fun and trying to monetize some of those pins. Especially right now, Pinterest is new but now marketers are hitting it. I’ve already heard there is software in the works to automate your pins. Me no like but that’s just me.

    Thanks for your comment!

  5. Thanks for the info Alan!

This was just what I needed to finally convince me to invest a few hours in Pinterest. I’ve heard tales of INSANE traffic coming from that site and it looks like you’ve got some good monetization strategies… Good looking out

  6. hehhee. Today was my first day at Pinterest and after reading the scam thing, I did something similar. :-) I hope it works. Did it work for you?

  7. As long as you keep it real and not use spamming tools like bots, all should be well! :-)

  8. Thanks Alan for a very interesting post. This is the next big wave after LinkedIn and Facebook. I am just getting to know about it and found your site while doing research. The attraction marketers are still focused on FB, but its only a matter of time. It would be nice to be on the forefront. Happy marketing!

  9. Hey Alan,

Great video! I’m just getting into Pinterest so this has given me some ideas on how to integrate into everything else I’m doing. I also like how you “matched” features from the actual Amazon site (such as the slideshow widget) to give people something they trust and are familiar with.

Do you get many opt-ins from this sort of thing? I mean do a lot of people subscribe just for updates? Or is it more of a “put an optin form with everything you do” sort of mentality since every single opt-in could potentially turn into a lifelong customer.
